1) You must be committed to your dreams and goals. We are not talking about "fingers-crossed-wishing". We are talking that unshakable, gut level determination. If you don't have this, if you are just "hoping" this will work, don't even get started. No successful person starts a business on a whim, or with a mere fantasy.Second, you must acknowledge the importance of trust. Without trust, everything takes much longer to do and to communicate and the results will always be less than satisfactory. When it comes to trust, the secret to earning people's trust is by trusting them. People follow the behaviors of others more than their words and so if you trust other people you are giving them the perfect example and incentive to trust you in return.Great importance is given to Leadership Development. Leaders liberally practice trust and delegation. They choose the right persons forvarious tasks. In war they observe fairness. Fighting is suspended during night. In my company, everybody takes a turn at kitchen duty. In my household, everybody is expected to clean up their own messes and pitch in at meals. As CEO, you have to set the example - then demand that everyone follow it. You're responsible for your gains and your mistakes. Responsible people gain respect, so clean up your own messes and be responsible.There's nothing terribly wrong with Firepow. It's management team, though highly skilled in IT, definitely need some guidance from appropriate Training Network Leadership in the fields of management and instructional design.Also you need to learn to innovate. Yes, it is not bad to follow canned company protocols, but it is also not bad to go over it if you're not breaking any rule and if the action would make the whole team become more effective. Learn to think of better ways than those which were given to you. Through this, you will learn great improvements in you Leadership Development, which would also make your team prosper.For example, I have considered the possibility that I'll go into Instructional Design someday. I took a course in that in college, and it was a lot of fun. My college had a Master's Degree program for it, so if I want to do that in the future, I'll have to look at how I'd qualify for that program.I never understood why I had such an aversion to and trouble with numbers and mathematics. I wasn't stupid, I was reading before the end of kindergarten and have been devouring the written word ever since. English and history were easy subjects as were any others based on language and not numbers. Over the years I just decided I was 'stupid in math', that math was 'just not logical'. Then one day I mentioned in an online forum that I felt I had some sort of dyslexia but with numbers and not letters. Bingo! The answer came; perhaps I had Dyscalculia.We will never know how much it cost our business growth because we missed the seminars. However, if I had it to do over again, I still would have missed all the seminars to be able to watch my son play college football. They grow up so fast. At least I have those memories.I am not only an instructor, I created the curriculum and course content for the course I am teaching. I develop fresh, of-the-moment material: often preparing lectures and assignments from breaking news in marketing (where there is a lot of breaking news right now). Then, I tie the news into classical and contemporary research and approaches. It all boils down to a fantastic multi-media Instructional Design, where I develop a short film and narrate it. The students then have an assignment.My mind was inundated by a multitude of words I wanted to say to her, but that I did not utter: my parents had educated me well after all. I was thinking to myself: "Please don't keep my file and don't ever contact me again!" And "I am being realistic: you really have no idea of what you're doing and how to match positions with candidates regardless of the recruiter title on your business card." Quietly, I stood up. She looked offended by my obvious declination of her offer. I did not care. I was not offended though: I was rather amused. I extended my hand, shook hers, thanked her and left.The third reason for YOU to call customers is that you appear more successful when you do. Just reflect on the story I shared with you. If you HAD to place a bet right now regarding the success of all the Training Network Leadership I described, who would you bet on as being the most successful? You'd probably bet on the consultant that called me. When you call your customers, they see you as someone who's doing her job well and obviously has it together. If they ever become a consultant on your team, they'll feel confident that their recruiter is a leader!
